The T1D Exchange Registry launch this summer represented the culmination of a significant team effort to build and promote a research study designed to harness the power of people with type 1 diabetes.
To help get the word out about the Registry and the opportunities it offers to participate in research, members of the Registry team here at T1D Exchange traveled to a range of type 1 diabetes events, walks, and other gatherings. From our homebase in Boston to Georgia, Florida, and more, we’re reaching out to the community and asking about your goals and hopes for type 1 diabetes care and research.
Along the way, we’ve shared the Registry and our work with patients, parents, clinicians, and many organizers. Here are a few of this year’s events:
Friends for Life: T1D Exchange Comes to the Magic Kingdom
In July, we headed down to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Florida for the 20th annual Friends for Life Conference, where we met with a diverse group of parents, kids, researchers, and physicians. It was a great opportunity to show off the Registry and its new mobile capabilities, which let people quickly register while exploring the show.
While there, we were able to show new participants features of the Registry, hand out some fun give-a-ways, and even interview you about your experiences with type 1 diabetes. We took the lessons and learnings from our time at FFL and used it to help craft our outreach campaign.
You can check out a few of the videos we put together here:
We want to put the people who really matter in all of this at the center of our efforts: you, the patients. That’s why we feel it’s so important to reach out online, in person, and through events to build these relationships and learn more about life with type 1 diabetes.
JDRF Northeast Walks – Boston and Lancaster, MA
We kicked off our season of walks right here at home, with JDRF-sponsored events in Boston and nearby Lancaster at the end of September. The team had a fantastic time meeting local members of the chapters and participants, handing out some T1D Exchange gear and speaking about the Registry and our organization’s efforts.
It was great to see all the kids decked out in their gear and meet the families, and we look forward to coming back next year!
JDRF One Walk – Atlanta, GA
Most recently, the team headed down to Georgia, where they braved some rainy weather in Atlanta to join the JDRF One Walk on October 19th. As in Boston, these events create great opportunities for us to connect with the community and spread the word about the Registry and our efforts.
It was a great weekend and we look forward to many more over the coming months.
Dallas and 2020
Finally, we hit Dallas for the JDRF One Walk on November 16! We’ve had a fantastic year of events, meetings, and opportunities to reach out to the community, and we hope to see you at even more in 2020.
The Registry will be open to anyone living with type 1 diabetes or caring for children with the condition in the U.S., and we encourage everyone who qualifies to join us. We’ll see you online and out there!
