The move now gives Medtronic pump users an alternative to Medtronic’s CareLink data platform.
Medtronic pump users will have an expanded opportunity to utilize the Tidepool platform to access and share data from their insulin pumps.
Tidepool is now compatible with Medtronic 630G, 640G, and 670G pumps, according to Christopher Snider, Tidepool community manager. Previously, the Tidepool platform was only compatible with some older Medtronic pumps, as well as several other pump and CGM brands.

The announcement means that these Medtronic pump users will have an alternative to CareLink, Medtronic’s own data platform. It also means that these Medtronic pump users who use non-Medtronic CGMs will be able to access and view both pump and CGM data in one place, according to a blogpost on the Tidepool site.
Tidepool users can opt into a program that allows them to securely and anonymously share their data with researchers and device makers. Tidepool donates 10 percent of the proceeds of the sale of this de-identified data to nonprofit partners, including (full disclosure) T1D Exchange.
