Researchers, advocates, clinicians, and organizations around the country and across the web have been hard at work creating resources for people living with T1D to better cope with the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
We’re going to take the opportunity to share out some of those resources each week that may help people get through this challenging time with the help of partners and experts.
Here are a few of the most interesting and important resources that we’ve seen about this topic in the last few weeks — we’ll be updating the list regularly as time goes on:
We here at T1D Exchange are doing our part, launching the first targeted surveillance study of people with T1D who are positively or probably diagnosed with the COVID-19 coronavirus.
Beyond Type 1 has compiled a list of specific actions you can take in your daily life to have a real positive impact on the current situation.
JDRF hosted an extremely helpful webinar with Dr. Mary Pat Gallagher, a pediatric endocrinologist with NYU Langone Health, Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital, about the challenges of coronavirus and T1D.
Lilly announced a $35 co-pay option for most Lilly insulins, including the extremely popular Humalog, through its Lilly Insulin Value Program. People with T1D who use Lilly insulin can contact the Lilly Diabetes Solution Center at 833-808-1234 to figure out their eligibility.
Tidepool, a non-profit organization that provides free software and cloud solutions to people with T1D, is providing telemedicine resources, including a hub that helps clinics get started, preps patients for their appointments, and other services.
Courtesy of Tidepool as well, check out this extremely helpful webinar with Dr. Mark Heyman about the most urgent mental health concerns to manage while navigating COVID-19 and diabetes.
We want to thank all of our partners who contributed effort and we look forward to sharing more resources as they become available!
